Movement Beginnings

The movement started to take shape at the beginning of the Coronavirus pandemic, when patients who were treated for different illnesses by doctors and nurses in outside of hospitals did not wear any masks. Sparking rage in thousands of people around the world, many began to think of this as “completely absurd and dangerous”. Patients in Sweden, in particular, were the first ones to use it.

The hashtag was used over 200,000 times in the course of 3 months by every individual who felt victimized and astounded by the fact that masks were not often worn by any medical staff when not on hospital grounds.

Significance
The hashtag was noticed by many hospitals and government leaders but not many turned the words into action. Despite this, the hashtag brought many people together to discuss the issue, which helped immensely with the magnitude of the activism that was taking place.
