Katerliegen

Derived from the German "kater haben" meaning "hungover", and the German verb "liegen" meaning "to lie", it describes the various kinds of lying one does to oneself and to others whilst hungover. E.g., "I'm going to give up alcohol in the New Year." "From now on I am not going to mix." A colleague says "late night?" and you respond "no I just didn't sleep very well."
Andrew engages in serious katerliegen when he's hungover. He just threw out all of the beer in his fridge. He'll just buy more next weekend. He just wrote a 3 month plan for burning off his beer weight. He won't follow it.
