J.D. Vance Effect

A political term describing the phenomena where a political candidate's polls or chance of winning an election is compromised by the mere endorsement of a particular person, typically another political figure and typically that of a foreign country. This phenomena has first been observed in the catastrophic loss of Viktor Orban in Hungary's 2026 Prime Minister elections,, which was in-part influenced by public endorsement from J.D. Vance and Donald Trump.
"Did you see how low his approval rating tanked after he got endorsed by that guy?"
"Yeah, that's another victim of the J.D. Vance Effect."
