Inassent

Definition:
The phenomenon of the unconsenting will. It is the specific moment when your volition moves forward even when your conscious mind hasn't given the green light—the "willingly unwilling" state where your heart commits to a path your logic is still arguing against.

Even though he knew texting his ex was a terrible idea, he felt a sudden sense of inassent as his thumb pressed send anyway. (origin: Middle French and Late Latin roots (in- for "not" and assentire for "to agree") form the term. It describes moving forward without your conscious green light.)

inessential 

Used of a work of art, a production that adds nothing of interest to the creator's portfolio. Does not necessarily imply that the work is bad per se, though mediocrity at best is often assumed. Often only of interest to fanboys and completists.

U2's most inessential work has got to be Pop.
