The "go to" phrase for many narcissists when they are deflecting blame for any responsibility or anything bad that has occurred in his/her life. Used in a way to gaslight and confuse the injured party.
" I'm sorrrry that you decided not to tell me that I was responsible to help raise our children. Now you expect me to have a relationship with our kids even though you never specified it. I hope you feel good about yourself"
