Code for I’m gay/lesbian, homosexual greeting originating during the 1960s, not used frequently today, it was used because it sounds like a normal greeting, and was non suspicious only those in the community new it’s hidden implications, this phrase is actually referenced in the movie Dr. Strangelove (How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb) as it is pictured on one the missiles, it is shown beside a missile which says Dear John a reference to WWII break up letters
