Grow the grass

A modern alternative to the phrase "cut the crap". It is used in a playful yet direct manner to tell someone to stop being fake, stop talking in circles,or stop wasting time with nonsense . It encourages the person to be 'straight'. With the literal meaning as the grass grows straight so you need to be straight to the point.
"I'm tired of all these excuses . Grow the grass and tell me exactly what happened last night!
