Gangposting
The practice of coordinating multiple posts—often from different accounts—to create the appearance of widespread consensus against a target. Gangposting can involve synchronized posting of negative content, coordinated downvoting or reporting, or flooding a space with messages that make the target seem isolated. It is often used to shape moderation decisions: a swarm of reports makes a target look like a problem, and a swarm of public posts makes them look like they have no supporters. Gangposting turns platform features into weapons of social control.
Example: “Within minutes of her reply, ten accounts posted ‘this user is harassing me’ in the mod channel. Gangposting: making a single comment look like a pattern of abuse.”
