shotgun friendship

An unhealthy relationship in which someone is hastily forced to be someone else’s friend. Much like a shotgun wedding where someone is forced to marry another person for alternative reasons and not true love, shotgun friendships usually involve guilt tripping or emotional blackmail.

Their relationship was unfortunately a shotgun friendship.
