Far East Bay

The Far East Bay is the area of the East Bay that has cities in the Tri-Valley Area (Amador Valley, Livermore Valley, and San Ramon Valley). Cities in the Far East Bay include, but are not limited to, Pleasanton, Livermore, Dublin, San Ramon, Danville and Sunol.

The Far East Bay is east of the Diablo Range within Alameda and Contra Costa counties, and therefore does not include Castro Valley. The Far East Bay is also west of the Altamont Pass and therefore does not include Mountain House or Tracy, cities outside of the Bay Area.

The Blue line of the BART line goes out to the Far East Bay, ending in Pleasanton and Dublin.

The East Bay is often seen by outsiders as only encompassing Oakland and its neighboring cities, but Alameda and Contra Costa counties extend much further east. The Far East Bay helps us understand this distinction.
