Often used to justify self-obsession and neglect of other life responsibilities, these disclosures aim to attract attention and followers for profit via sponsorships or clout. Typically prefaced with phrases like “This is really hard to talk about,” followed by detailed narratives about psych wards, DSM diagnoses, trauma responses, and healing journeys, they turn cutting, puking, stalking boyfriends, or running up credit card charges into “issue porn” for clout and cash.

With a verified account, the entrepreneurotic posted tearful videos about her cutting scars and stalking her ex, framing it as a “healing journey” to secure brand deals.
