Elborno’d

verb - To be trapped in an excessively lengthy meeting or conversation where someone delivers interminable theoretical explanations with zero regard for your actual schedule or other commitments. The victim is held hostage by tangential lectures while their calendar goes up in flames.

Usage notes: The defining characteristic is not just length, but the speaker’s complete immunity to social cues indicating people need to leave. Checking your watch, sighing audibly, and saying “I have another meeting” have zero effect. Elborno’d victims often resign themselves to their fate and simply absorb the hit to their day.

“I got Elborno’d” has become acceptable justification for missing nearly any appointment.
Example: “I was supposed to grab lunch with the team, but I got Elborno’d for three hours on seismic qualification methodology. By the time I escaped, everything was cold and everyone was gone.”

Related terms:

• Getting Elborno’d hard - When the theoretical tangents multiply and there’s no visible end
• Elborno trap - Any meeting on his calendar you can’t politely decline
• Post-Elborno regret - The guilt-free satisfaction of finally leaving, mixed with knowing you’re now behind on actual work
