Autisplaining 

(Verb) Similar to mansplaining, describes the act of a neurotypical person explaining a topic or special interest back to an Autistic person, often without realizing that the Autistic person is already deeply knowledgeable or even an expert on the subject. This can come across as condescending or dismissive, as it overlooks the Autistic person's expertise and passion for the topic. Colloquially it has also been used to describe when neurotypical people explain neurodivergents’ hyperfixations to them more generally (ie someone with ADHD).

The term is used humorously or critically within the autistic and neurodivergent community more generally to highlight the disconnect in cultural expectations between neurotypical and neurodivergent people.

Despite knowing my special interest in astronomy, my coworker couldn’t resist autisplaining basic facts about black holes to me during lunch after going to the science museum for the first time since elementary school.

Autismsplaining 

Autismsplaining is when one presents another with information that they are likely unfamiliar with in a very in-depth and technical manner. The word is derived from the tendency of people with ASD to give long-winded dissertations on topics that others aren't very well versed in.

Autismsplaining usually involves specific, technical jargon and lengthy explanation that the listener is unlikely to understand.

"Yeah guitars are pretty cool. My favorite shape is the Gibson SG body, but in terms of actual playability and function, I prefer the ESP Viper series. Gibson's had a lot of quality control issues and lack of innovation, and I think that the better pickup design with a coil-splitting option is far superior to any Gibson product, while still retaining the iconic design."

"Dude, you're autismsplaining. I barely understood any of that beyond you liking guitars."

AIsplaining 

The AI explanation of something. Where AI takes your input and regurgitates it back to you in generic terminology, insisting that "The Real Tuth Is" to demonstrate more knowledge about your area of expertise than you have.

- When someone uses AI-generated responses to comment on your social media content. Pasting your post into their preferred GenAI tools, then copying the answer straight into the comments of your post.
