Almosting

The syndrome of getting extremely close to realizing prominence or fortune in your chosen artistic pursuit, and through circumstances beyond your control or a because of a seeming twist of cruel fate, finding yourself consigned back to struggle and relative obscurity.
Damn, when that director died on the way to the meeting to get my buddy's script greenlit, that was one of the worst case of almosting I've ever seen.

Like a perfectionist, but you give some slack on the completion of tasks.
I’ve become an almostist at keeping my home tidy. I am a perfectionist who wants things perfectly clean, but I wasn’t feeling well so I became a almostist at letting things remain not perfectly in place.
