Zometeen
Het woord zometeen is een woord wat genormaliseerd is door Surinamers in de jaren 80. Het woord bestaat eigenlijk uit twee woorden namelijk 'Zo' en 'Meteen'. Het geeft aan dat je iets binnenkort zal doen en wordt vaak gebruikt wanneer je weet dat je te laat zal komen, omdat er geen tijdsaanduiding is, waardoor er meer tijdsspeling ontstaat. Het woord wordt nog steeds gebruikt in de Nederlandse volksmond maar is nooit meegenomen in de Dikke Van Dale.
Geschiedenis
Wanneer mensen vroeger de vraag stelden "Hoe laat ben je er?". Antwoorden zij eerst nog; "Ik kom er meteen aan", maar dan kwamen ze alsnog te laat.
Wanneer zij "zo" zeiden was dat weer onbetrouwbaar omdat het geen tijd aangaf. Toen bedacht een (onbekende) universitair opgeleide Surinamer het woord 'zometeen', waarmee je aangeeft dat het vroeg of (te) laat wel goed komt.

Het eerste geschreven materiaal wat gevonden werd met het woord 'zometeen' was in 1983 op een notitie gemaakt op een papiertje wat onder een auto ruitenwisser werd geplaatst. Het was geschreven door iemand die aangaf ‘zometeen’ terug te zijn om de schade aan zijn auto betalen. Helaas is die belofte nooit nagekomen.
In de jaren 90 werd het woord steeds vaker gebruikt, zo ook op televisie. Onder andere John Williams gebruikte het woord vaak in het TV programma Call TV (Game Time), en gaf ook toe dat het een stopwoord was geworden. John zei het vaak wanneer de reclame zou beginnen en wanneer hij ergens op terug zou komen.
