stoner rock

Stoner Rock is a loosely termed genre of music that has heavy guitar riffs that are somewhat repetitive and hypnotic. It's closest relatives would be blues, rock, hard rock and metal (of all types). The music is choppy, bassy and almost always distorted to some degree with different types of vocals, mostly male, which tend to blend and harmonize with the music. The guitars are often tuned to D or open D to get that low sound of metal-like distortion that the standard E tuning doesn't offer. The term "stoner rock" most likely comes from the perceived association of smoking marijuana and the fans of this music. However, smoking marijuana is not necessary to enjoy the music. These are some of the bands considered to be stoner rock: T-Rex, Kyuss, Monster Magnet, Wolfmother, Black Sabbath, Fu Manchu, QOTSA.

Stoner Rock is fun to play on the guitar because of its simplicity in basic form; playing it is as simple as tuning the low E of your guitar down to D, then play the low D, A and D strings (the top three) open. From there, you can hit the 3rd fret and noodle the 5th fret on the same three strings - start playing this, while allowing the open strings to resonate between strums on the 3rd and 5th frets - you're playing the beginnings of Stoner Rock!

stoner metal

Sub-style of metal. Sometimes also known as "doom metal" due to its often agonizingly slow pace, crushing heaviness, and gloomy lyrics. It's generally accepted to have been invented by Black Sabbath. Some stoner metal bands are retro-oriented, some aren't. Common elements include marijuana references (obviously), sci-fi/fantasy themes, extended instrumental jams, and tempos anywhere from plodding dirges to medium-paced rock (but rarely faster). Heavy-ass guitar riffage is essential.

Notable bands include Kyuss, Sleep, Fu Manchu, Monster Magnet, Electric Wizard, Orange Goblin, etc.

Stoner metal is cool, but I don't like the retro aesthetic a lot of bands use.

stoner kitty

A kitty that you get high on a regular basis. You take a hit of weed and blow your smoke in the kitty's face. After a while the kitty is a stoner just like you. It knows when you are about to get high and hangs out by you when you are packing the bowl or rolling the joint waiting for you to start blowing hits at it. It likes to get high. At first kitties don't like it when you get them high, but after a while they love it.

Jadice is such a stoner kitty. She follows the pipe around the circle from stoner to stoner waiting for her turn.

The eastern constituent country of the Union of Stonerland and Tokeopia. It is reknowned for its relaxed laws and attitudes, tasty and widely available munch, cultural love of uber-comfy sofas and extensive use of cannabis sativa.

A more permanant version of "munchies". When someone has smoked so much weed, they have an odd appetite 24/7 and usually doesn't consist of super gigantic meals.

Stoner Drifting

The inability to control the wandering capabilities of your body. Usually involves complete lack of focus and/or a destination. Stoner Drifting most likely begins just after or within an hour after smoking. Most participants don't even realize it is happening until they find themselves thinking, "What the fuck am I doing over here?".

I have no idea why I am in the laundry room, but that was some extreme Stoner Drifting.
