Trying to force someone to leave or kick them out of somewhere for no reason isn't compassion or tough love, it's not any kind of love, it's being an instigator.
The instigator's babysitter didn't leave him/her with anything to do that day, so he/she went around trying to kick people out or run them off from different places for no good reason, because it made him/her feel tougher.

Since they had loved their home and were happy and peaceful there before she arrived, (and since it was never 1950's Pleasantville) they knew that they would be happy again when she went away, especially since she wasn't even from their home (though the one she thought of as being David really was). They were not there to celebrate her, roll down red carpets for her to walk over, or anything else, since nobody there owed her anything.
