Get the Canoodle mug.Originated in Belfast Northern Ireland in 2003 when a dyslexic man spelled shamone wrong in an email.
My friend thought this new word, pronounced shamoot, was so funny that it became his sole greeting, exclamation of emotion and goodbye.
The word spread from this and is now used widely in Northern Ireland and has also been sighted in Manchester though their definition may be entirely different.
A small minority prefer to spell the word shamoot.
