LA Promise

The offer of a bigger and better opportunity down the road, usually made by a producer, a director or lead actor in order to get subordinates to work harder or for less money or for no money, but the opportunity never arises.
From the web series TOKENS, Jessica AD says it to Producer in Episode 6 "Whitewashing" sc. 12. It's scripted as, "Thanks for the LA promise." Winnifred Jong, the series creator and director, got the actor, Jessica Greco, to adlib, "Thanks for the LA-fucking-promise."

index promise

Index Promise was first created by Jay and Dee on February 04, 2015 . When texting a partner, You are more likely to make a promise. Since the emojis do not carry the pinky emoji to pinky promise though text. We created the index promise 👉👈 And in person It's more exciting because you wrap yours and your partners index fingers and say I index promise and kiss their finger as them yours. It's a way we showed and continue to show love to one another, by making promises like no one ever has.
I index promise👉👈 , We'll see the movie you want to see this weekend.

I index promise👉👈 to love you forever.

I never promised you a rose garden

usually a response given after being blamed by someone for a situation that didn't live up to their lofty (and sometimes unrealistic) expectations.
Person 1: I can't believe I married you, this is not the life I signed up for!

Person 2: Oh yeah? Well, I never promised you a rose garden.

non-core promise

A commitment to deliver (a service, funding, an item) that is subsequently set aside. The broken promise is then explained with the glib expression "oh, but that promise was non-core".

Now generalised to non-political situations, too.

Origin: Australian federal elections at the turn of the 20th/21st centuries. The conservative party (known as the Liberal/National coalition) made a number of election promises which were broken soon after the election. The prime minister, John Howard, attempted to explain this behaviour by claiming that some promises are "core" and some are "non-core" and thus, don't count.
Not only did "No tax increases, no new taxes" turn out to be a non-core promise, but in the campaign, Howard had also given a solemn undertaking that "I'm not going to break any promises". That one was certainly non-core.
