“But BTS” is a phrase that the K-pop community uses when one of their faves do something problematic and they want to redirect the attention to the K-pop group BTS to justify their faves actions.

BTS did some problematic things in the past but sincerely apologized and educated themselves. They are completely innocent now but the K-pop community still bring them up at their convenience.

Person A: your faves should be called out, they said the N word.

Person B: But BTS… you forget about them?

Or

Person A: They should apologize

Person B: You stan BTS (this is another form of But BTS)
