animal rights activist

A BBC website put it best:

The press often confuses animal activists with animal extremists.

Animal activists live their lives in an animal-friendly way and use only conventional means to promote the animal cause. These include:

Diet

Not eating animal products

Shopping

Avoiding products tested on animals
Avoiding products made with leather or fur

Living in an animal friendly way

Avoiding pesticides
Avoiding products that harm the environment

Education

Learning about animal issues
Teaching others about animal issues

Entertainment

Avoiding zoos and circuses

Investment

Investing only in companies with animal-friendly policies

Politics

Lobbying for pro-animal legislation
Campaigning about animal issues
Telling other people about animal issues
Writing books and articles about animal issues
The animal rights activist doesn't just talk about the issue, he/she does something about it.

artivist

An activist who incorporates creativity into his or her schtick without losing credibility or street cred. And even if he or she does lose a little of those two things, the art usually makes up for the loss, rendering the person more soulful and/or funky, or at the very least rejuvinated for more activism-- sort of like what happens with religion, but less complicated, depending on the scope of the artivistic endeavor.
"The Sierra Club could really use some artivists on its payroll, huh?"
"Yeah, bro, their latest campaign was entirely un-artivistic, ineffective, and corporate-friendly."
"Yeah."

ovary-acting

1. When a female does something extreme that may or may not be a result of what her ovaries are doing, yet they get blamed for it.
2. Overreacting in a female, esp. as a result of being on her period.
Eric: "Dude, Sarah really broke up with you just because you ate the last of the brownies?“

John: "yeah, but she'll be back within about a week or so. It's her time of the month, so she's just ovary-acting."

animal rights activist

Terrorist who is a fanatical fascist and may be a memeber of peta, alf, elf, the humane society, or any other domestic terrorist group. These people have been in the city too long and either have brain damage or think Disney movies are real. They enjoy blowing up fur farms, fur factories, restaraunts, banks, stores, homes, etc. They see animals and humans as equal, which means they have all fallen away from God's Word, and are ignorant of Genesis 1:26. peta's elite propaganda members like to put out sexually immoral and sexist items to grab peoples attention. They also try to shock people into believing them by feeding them lies. Basicly, don't trust them or make any eye contact. They've been around animals too long and are now starting to sport animal-like behavior. Especially that ugly woman, Ingrid hitler, or whatever her name is.
"Did you hear about that arson attempt over at old man Sedgewick's fur farm?" "Yeah I heard they caught a couple of animal rights activists trying to light a match but they passed out because they were too weak from only eating vegetables."

double action

"Double action" guns are much more common than single action - most semi-auto pistols are double-action, at least for the first shot.

That means that pulling back the slide on your semiauto pistol only chambers the round - it doesn't "cock back" the striker pin. Only when the trigger is pulled beyond "first stage" (halfway back) does the hammer/striker become cocked.

After that first shot, all other shots from the gun (until it is decocked, safety is activated, or you cycle through the rest of your ammo) are "single action," since the blowback from the previous shot provides the force to re-cock the weapon.
