Ruining something while attempting to fix it, on account of using brute force instead of gentle persuasion.

A goatee. One lacks the ability to choose to be either clean-shaven, bearded, or mustachioed. Analogous to the mullet, a hair cut chosen when one cannot commit to either long or short hair.
