Effort Value

Attributes which give bonuses to a Pokémon's stats and improve differently depending which Pokémon they defeat. These bonuses, in the form of effort points, are gained in addition to bonuses gained by increasing level. Pokemon who are candied do not receive these bonuses, making them weaker than those leveled by battling.

Trainer 1: I worked really hard, but my Charizard's speed Effort Value is still low!

Trainer 2: That's because Charizard's base speed is already low. It's attack should be higher, but it's nature can affect it's stats, too.

Ed Effect

A situation in which a seemingly normal or routine event either works in an unexpected way or not at all. Rarely reproducible, the phenomenon is as fleeting as it is confusing.

The computer crashed every Tuesday morning due to Ed Effect.

Shower Effect

While urinating into a lavatory, the main stream is entering as normal, but a shower like spray diverts and causes particulates of urine to land on the toilet seat. This is usually followed by a rapid wiping of the seat with toilet roll, often masked by the flushing of the toilet itself.

when one attends a funeral and encounters relatives that they do not know, but the relative persists that they remember them from a very young age, but the encountered individual feels weird and just walks away.

Sockturnal Effect

The phenomenon of going to bed with both socks on, and waking up with one sock completely off and the other sock completely on.

A) Dude! I fell asleep with both socks on, but I woke up with only one. I think I've been robbed by the sock gnomes!

B) Ahh, twas simply the sockturnal effect my friend. Every one knows that there are no such thing as gnomes.
