Widow’s Son

A term which has been used in many mystery traditions in history, including Ancient Egypt (Isis, The Widow) and Manechism (Manes, the adopted Son of a Widow) but is today known as an identifying phrase between Freemasons representing the master architect of Solomon’s temple, Hiram Abiff. Commonly used in passing by Masons in order to identify each other.

Widow Predator

A person—often a stepchild, relative, or opportunistic acquaintance—who preys on a grieving widow in order to claim property, wealth, or assets that the widow legally and morally protected. A widow predator typically waits until the husband passes away, then uses deception, manipulation, or legal loopholes to seize control of the widow’s marital home or estate, despite contributing nothing, especially in cases during the caregiving or hardship period.

This term is used to expose those who terrorize, harass, and/or exploit grief to gain material advantage, especially when the widow made all the real sacrifices and should gain, yet others do instead. They are Widow Predators.

"After ten years of caregiving, she watched helplessly as the greedy, privileged step-kids went after the widow. After her husband died, the Widow Predators swooped in, pretending they cared, only to snatch the house she paid for and maintained the entire time."

alpha widow

A woman, usually with average sexual market value (SMV), who sleeps with a high sexual market value male , a/k/a the alpha male, who does not wish to have a long-term relationship with the woman. The woman views the alpha male as superior to most, if not all, of the other men pursuing her, and so the woman continues to lust after the alpha male she cannot have, sacrificing future long-term relationships with lower-SMV men, making her a "widow", in a sense, to the original alpha male.

Jane could never seem to get over her one true love, Rocco, even after she was married to John. Jane must be an alpha widow.

Alpha Widow

A woman (typically but not necessarily post-wall) who has been abandoned by an Alpha male. No matter how great her new man is, she will perceive him as failing to meet the standard of the alpha she was previously associated with. Due to hypergamy, a woman cannot date backwards, once she gets say, a male 8, she cannot date below a male 8 and be happy with him. If she does, she is just using said man for resources (Beta Bucks) and doesn't really love him. Essentially, a damaged woman accustomed to a tier of man she can no longer attract.

Karen was alpha widowed after a one-night-stand in college, and rejected all suitors that didn't live up to Chad. She is now old, single, lonely with 3 cats.

Someone who’s significant other has gone on a serious health kick and spends all their time working out.

Rich was happy that his wife was interested in getting the baby weight off but the fact that she spent 20 hours a week at the gym left him a gym widower.

Sara loved buff men but hated being a gym widow all the time.

EverQuest Widow

Spouse of an EverQuest player. If EQ player found dead, widow can often only identify them in profile, seated, hands on keyboard. Described as widowhood, as partner is largely ignored, except when asked how to spell a word in a thread post(or when widow is asked to order pizza).

"Your husband/wife plays EverQuest?"
"Yes, that's why he didn't come on vacation with me."

"Your husband/wife plays EverQuest?"
"Yeah, I'm an EverQuest widow."

Hunter's Widow

the spouse or significant other of a hunter, whom, during hunting season, is typically left alone, "widowed" by their hunter spouse's prolonged absences; includes sleeping alone in the marriage bed, minimal sex life, extra essential babysitting responsibilities (for those with children), refrigerator depleted of beer supplies, bank account depleted of financial supplies, and the itty bitty possibility of said hunter spouse bringing home some fresh meat.

Girls' night out while my husband is in the woods; I'm a hunter's widow this weekend.
