Derives from the noun “Simp”. A coworker (usually a teen) who follows female coworkers around pretending to be their friend taking every opportunity to look at their butt or get any view of cleavage he can get. The female coworker is wise to his antics and in 100% of cases she is only playing hard to get but loves any male attention she can get.

Dude look at Derrick follow Chelsea from soft lines around like a lost puppy, He even volunteers to stock the makeup aisle to maximize his chances to look at her butt thinking she doesn’t notice. The guy is the Simployee of the month for sure!

Different from the older usage, the newer usage of the term refers to people to over-simplify every concept.

Just like there is Asperger's that is a functional version of autism, a simpleton is a functional version of the idea of an "idiot-savant." A person who can be very smart but also over-simplifies everything.
