Not displaying emotions is emotional repression, whether its males doing it, or whether its females doing it. Emotional repression is why some females try to come off as tough and badass as a defense mechanism to perceived (or real) bullying, and by being defensive, they're less likely to come off as the bully themselves.
The girl made herself look badass and tried to take away any males right to notice she was a fuckin mollycoddle, and thought that males should be less emotional, and with a little emotional repression, keep them living quietly.
