Fashion Fomo

An expansion on the acronym fomo, fear of missing out. Fashion fomo is a need and/or want to be up to date with everything current and fashionable, ranging from but not limited to fashion, food, travel and luxury goods. A feeling of anxiety when not being first in or missing out on an item, bargain, place or event.

Being late the warehouse sale of your favourite brand, and missing out on all of the items in your size at half price, if you're now wishing you were a size 18 just to buy that amazing dress left hanging on the rack, you have a serious case of fashion fomo.

homo fomo

When you're queer and go out with your straight friends and you can't keep up or follow along with all the heterosexual socializing. The fear of missing out and not understanding what all the non-queers are talking about.

-Raquel tried going out for a girls night with Becky and Taylor, but had homo fomo when none of the guys were hitting on her, even though she didn't want them to.

-I'll have too much homo fomo if I watch The Bachelor. Too many straight people on one screen to find someone to empathize with.

Foofoo

Adjective used to describe anything that is just a little to frilly, fancy, or "upper crust". Things that are foofoo might also be a bit on the delicate side, or too elegant by half, or even offensively fruity. Spoiled little lap-dogs, $1000 designer handbags, and pink capri pants worn by men all qualify as foofoo. Volleyball, a lightweight game - not a "sport" - played by athletic girls and openly gay men, does not qualify as foofoo.

FOMO

Acronym - Fear Of Missing Out

The intensely annoying act of being psychologically and physically compelled to open social networking or email applications at innoppropriate times. Significantly the FOMO phenomena generally occurs during mid-conversation with friends and loved ones, usually resulting in the individual/s involved in the conversation, that are not afflicted with FOMO, experiencing isolated incidents of intense rage.

Individual 1: "That looks like a good deal"

Individual 2: "It does. Ok, so do you think we should go ahead and book this holiday then?"

Individual 1 (FOMO): <looking down at mobile phone>

-- 30 seconds pass --

Individual 2: "I really hope that phone exploads in your hands and you are left unable to do that, at all, EVER"

-- 10 seconds pass --

Individual 2: "You disgust me to the core"

-- 10 seconds pass --

Individual 1: <looks up from mobile device> "Did you say something to me just then?"
