Magical Poll Land

A spam guild on the forum community Gaiaonline which provides guild members with endless polls through which they may gain the hypothetical currency of Gaia Gold.
It has the highest number of members of any Gaia guild and as such holds great power, may be a place of great drama and has a very complex and highly entertaining social system. It also has its own sort of religion, which involves the hailing of the creator Myspoonistoobig as a God. Not all members subscribe to this particlar aspect, though.

When an antagonistic opinion poll is conducted through the topic of an IRC channel. Often the source of hostility or e-drama and will always result in at least one person getting butthurt.

Rumor has it that Yugoslavia dissolved as a result of a topic poll.

straw poll

An extremely unorganized form of voting, usually used by self-appointed leaders when they don't have the desire to actually consider what the group wants but need to make it look like it was a majority decision.

Intramural captain: "Okay dudes, who can make it Monday to practice? Quick straw poll!" (two people out of thirty raise their hands)
Captain: "Monday it is!"
Guy #1: "90% didn't vote."
(Captain shoots Guy #1 in the face.)

trolley poll

the pole that comes from trolley's, it is the bit you puch, you get it by putting the trolley on the side and jumping on the trolley just below where the pole connects to the trolley, it is incredibly light and easy to conceal. but it packs a great deal of punch and will knock out your opponent. very popular in Australia

snap poll

This expression comes in the political and journalistic contexts. It means earlier elections before the definite time because of the death of the president of the country or an ousting of him because of a proved impeachment.

Election law now requires a snap poll to be held.
