To casually use another person's web browser while not changing any of their open windows. Most commonly this phenomenon occurs in a casual setting with a lap-top style computer.

Guy who needs to check email: "Hey, you mind if I open up a tab?"

Gal not using computer: "Sure, just make sure you close it out when you're done."
