new media

New media usually refers to a group of relatively recent mass media based on new information technology. Most frequently the label would be understood to include the Internet and World Wide Web, video games and interactive media, CD-ROM and other forms of multimedia popular from the 1990s on. The phrase came to prominence in the 1990s, and is often used by technology writers like those at Wired magazine and by scholars in media studies.

The term has garnered negative connotations due to techno-utopian claims by new-media proponents about the revolutionary social and personal benefits of new media; the claims of revolutionary transformation of people's lives were widely seen as unjustified. All the same, new media have only grown in popularity, and their current ubiquity is slowly causing social changes; their initial proponents' error may have been in the speed with which they claimed media would transform society, rather than the prediction itself.

probably one of the most boring yet amazing small towns in the US. our shining attribute has got to be the teenagers. some of the coolest and open minded kids you'll ever meet live here. it doesn't matter what your story is, we're all pretty fucked up anyways so no one judges. over half of everyone has either a step mom, step dad, step sibling, half sibling, a missing parent, or a combination of these. almost every kid has a dysfunctional family of some sort. there isn't much crime, but the kids can be kind of trashy. many are just bored, so they get involved in things like drugs, cigs, sex, some drinking, and pranking. the vast majority of the teens here listen to screamo, punk/hard rock, classic hip hop, and your occasional pop song. the common hobbies of kids around here include drugs, sex, walking on state street, and (sometimes) football games. most kids are in middle class to lower middle class, though there are exceptions. as far as clothes go, hot topic is pretty popular, but mostly people will shop wherever they can find good cheap clothes. friday and saturday nights, you will find a great portion of people either at the granite run mall or walking around state street with their group of friends. everyone knows everyone in this town, so you're bound the see some one you're cool with. to an outsider or an adult, this may sound boring or weird. but they just don't understand. these kids are great, and we know how to have fun. we entertain each other, and are family.

Medical Nerd Syndrome

Medical Nerd Syndrome or MNS for short is a disorder in which a person has an interest or an obcession with medical equipment, medical terms, and medications. The study of medical based stuff is kind of what this is all about here. MNS is caused by being around lots of medical stuff for example a person who was raised around lots of monitoring equipment may have an interest in the equipment. MNS has three types. Type I being the most severe. Type III is the least severe in which its just a minor interest, and maybe studying a little bit, because of a minor interest. Type II is when a patient maybe is so interested they own some medical equipment Type I is the MOST SEVERE. Its where the person has a SEVERE SEVERE obcession with machines, and medical based stuff. MNS should be controled because if its not, the patient can get severe, and they can develop a very very very severe OBCESSION in which they actually have psychological issues. MNS is most common around children who have terminal ilnesses and who have to live their life around machines, and all that stuff.
1. The patient with MNS was looking on ebay to try to find some nice pulse oximeters. Medical Nerd Syndrome effected the person who lived life with a father who was a respiratory therapist.
