specific object; explicit and sole goal. Used to describe the reason one committed a particular act, especially if the motivation is somewhat unusual.
"Disaster capitalism" sometimes takes advantage of natural disasters, such as the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami. But in 1973, Pinochet and the US Central Intelligence Agency carried out a coup d'etat with the express purpose of imposing neoliberal policies against the democratic will of the Chilean people.

Get the express purpose mug.Originally used in common American/English vernacular as 'all intents and purposes' by just barely unintelligent people trying to sound as if the 'intents and purposes' surrounding them are highly important.
This phrase has since been changed to 'all intensive purposes' by people who do not listen carefully to the original phrase used in poorly written movies and who have also never seen it in print in equally poorly written books.
Also, the person listening to a speaker who says 'all intensive purposes' is likely to overlook it.

Tanar: Yeah, you're pretty much by best friend, but for all intensive purposes we'll just call it a tie between you and Kelsey.
Alyssa: Okay!

A condition in which the editors of a popular website forget to fulfill their mission as a vital conduit for the evolution of English vernacular, as spoken by the people on a regular basis.
Instead of focusing on the mission, they opt to include and proliferate forced, unwitty and often juvenile standards that instead creates a forgettable, unreliable and unusable reference for the future.

By approving seemingly every entry, and by setting a low quality standard, Urban Dictionary has forgetten why it exists and has acquired Urban Purpose Amnesia. There appears to be a disregard for the quality of examples, and whether they are insightful, funny or coherent. Pundits do not believe Urban Dictionary can survive as a medium for the English language on its current course. In fact, previously well placed entries may also be ignored, rendering the web site's entire existence meaningless.

Get the bitch on purpose mug.A spur-of-the-moment decision to do something that you should not be doing, which you then deny when someone finds out about it by saying it was completely on accident.

Girl 2: Oh! Uhh, I must have, um, packed it in my bag by mistake when I was leaving your house! It was on accident!
Girl 2: Yeah, right, accidentally on-purpose!

Get the Accidentally On-Purpose mug.The ninth studio album by the Swedish ex-Melodeath band In Flames. It is the perfect example of what once ambitious bands tend to do to sell more records and attract angsty teenager audience. The lyrics from mature and abstract themes of earlier albums have degraded into "I feel like shit, but at least I feel something" and other similarly trivial sentences. The sound is reminescent of all these MTV-puppet bands, although still not enough to be written about in shitty magazines like Bravo or Popcorn. Like being stuck between half-suckitude and full-suckitude.
Timmy: Dawg, have you heard the new In Flames CD, A Sense of Purpose? It's almost as good as Linkin Park and Disturbed! Yay!
Johnny: I agree, In Flames are on a good way to sucking just like these bands you named do...
Timmy: What's that supposed to mean...!?
