Buell’s Moisture

A hypothetical situation proposed by esteemed chemical engineer David Buell*. Buell claims that when a high pressure gas cylinder reaches a threshold of below 500 psi. (3447 Kpa) that moisture is drawn into the bottle. Although there is no scientific evidence or published work in any scientific journal to support this hypothesis, Buell believes that “magic “ makes it possible. Buell’s Moisture is often brought up in welding forums by people who have a limited to no knowledge of how gases behave or in physics in general when the the question is posed “ at what psi do you switch your tanks?” When questioned on the source of any event to back up this hypothesis the person defending the existence of Buell’s Moisture will usually reply with “do some research” without providing any other evidence or explaining of how the hypothesis is possible (most likely because there is none).

* Buell does not hold a degree in any field of engineering what so ever.
Person A: “Don’t use your bottles below 500psi because moisture is drawn in. Haven’t you ever heard of Buell’s Moisture?”

Person B: wow that’s interesting, how does that happen?

Person A: I could tell you but I won’t You should do some research

Person B: okay can you point me to a page or chapter in a book?

Person A: …
