Many things throughout
history and in our daily lives have been at
one point influenced by hipster manipulation one way or another. Be it laws that have come into effect or lies we are told by those in power so
people will believe they are true.
When the media and news outlets try to sensationalise a fad, before most
people have even heard of it. News outlets will sometimes use hipster manipulation to try and start a fad by falsly claiming that everyone is doing it. It'
s like a form of peer pressure when someone makes the broad generalisation that all of the kids are doing it.
Some news outlets have been known to create
fake news stories in order to claim that they were the first to report on it.
Many times in order to get a viral trend started, a person or company will try to create the illusion that everyone who has not yet heard about it is late to the party.
Many companies and industries will lobby for changes to manipulate the publics view on things or what becomes into law. As a dishonest way of making profits.

"When in
2012 Tide Pods launched, these jokes about
people eating them existed - but in small niches and
never spoken about publicly because admittedly it is very weird."
