1. A holiday technically recognized by some national organization, but mostly leveraged for marketing purposes, most notably on social media.

2. Stupid holidays celebrated only by brands on social media

Example: National insert food day, national insert profession appreciation day, etc.

Brand: I need more likes on my Facebook page.
Marketer: Let's use a fauxholiday like National Donut Day to give away free donuts in exchange for Facebook likes.

Fauxcomplishment

Sometimes I like to write To Do Lists of things I've already done so I can cross off the entry and feel accomplished, albeit falsely accomplished.

Such a goal or task is a fauxcomplishment.

I never got around to doing laundry today, yet I did 3 loads last week, so I crossed it off today's To Do List and considered it a fauxcomplishment.
