Canuck

There is a theory that the word is derived from Connaught, a term said to be given by French Canadians to the Irish. The Oxford Companion To The English Language (defines the term as): Canuck 1820’s. Probably from the Iroquoian "CANUCHSA", someone in a "KANATA"(village)…but possibly from Hawaiian "KANAKA" (man), through a pidgin used in the fur trade (in which Pacific islanders were employed), and taken into French as "CANAQUE", perhaps being originally applied to French Canadian canoemen. A nickname for a Canadian…but in the U.S. Northeast pejoratively referring to French Canadians.

Soviet Canuckistan

1. A hilarious attempt by Pat Buchanan to make Canada feel shameful about not wanting to participate in a pathetic, unnecessary, wankerific war.

2. A cute nickname for a country that is actually smart enough to stand up to the United States, although the latter of the two countries is fully under the impression that the former is its bitch.
Two days ago, when Canada asked the United States not to target Canadian citizens just because they were born in certain countries, Mr. Buchanan griped to Mr. Press that Americans didn't need a lecture "from Soviet Canuckistan."

Canucks

They are my favourite hockey team in the whole world, and I will cheer for them forever. I am very fortunate and privileged to be able to go to GM Place many times a season. I still have great memories of their early 90's seasons, when I first became a fan.
The Vancouver Canucks give me a warm sense of pride. Go Canucks!

Vancouver Canucks

Vancouver BC's NHL franchise established in 1970. Since their inception in the NHL, the Vancouver Canucks have had more ups and downs than most NHL franchises, but their fan base remains strong through thick and thin. From 1970-1995 they played in the (PNE) Pacific Coliseum and from 1995-Present they have been playing at General Motors Place.

Although they have had many underwhelming seasons, the Canucks have made it to the Stanley Cup Finals on two occasions. Once during the 1981/1982 season and more recently during the 1993/1994 season. Ironically enough on both occasions they lost in the finals to a New York team (in 1982 they were swept in four games by The New York Islanders and in 1994 they had a dramatic and intense seven game series against the New York Rangers).

The Canucks were a dominant force in the NHL for most of the early 1990s and for the 2002/2003 and 2003/2004 regular seasons, they were arguably the best team in the NHL.
Go! Canucks! Go!

Captain Canuck

Canada`s own personal Super Hero, he is able to...well, he`s a generic hero who can run fast and lift heavy things. He works for CISO, in a future where Canada is the most powerful country in the world. His alter ego is Tom Evans. He also has some powers pertaining to maple syrup that were only hinted upon in two comics.
