Dark atmosphere

The foreboding or mysterious feeling that's more common in gothic movies. Often paired with gorey images to thrill the watcher (such as Sleepy Hollow), but sometimes movies are played just on the atmosphere itself (such as the Corpse Bride).

No it's the dark atmosphere in his works! Usually the dark feeling comes from the setting or the plot itself.
