Wörtlich "Straßenglaubwürdigkeit", meint, dass jemand mit einer hohen "street credibility" (abgekürzt "street cred") nicht in einer wohlbehaltenen geschützten reichen Umgebung aufgewachsen ist, sondern "von der Straße kommt", also aus der Unterschicht, Arbeiterklasse in ärmeren Gebieten mit erhöhter Kriminalität, dabei auch selbst oftmals kleinkriminell. Dagegen eine niedrige oder keine "street cred" gilt für Kinder reicherer Eltern des Bürgertums, gute Schulbildung, z.T. Privatschulen.

So named due to the reluctance to shell out for a new pack of tea due to the global credit crunch.
