American democratic socialism

What the rest of the world calls social democracy. Much like American football, we’ve created our own definition. After years of political scientists cringing at misuse of the word, people are throwing their hands up, and accepting that in the US, socialism means something completely different than it does literally anywhere else.

Person 1: I thought socialists wanted to “seize the means of production.”
Person 2: Bernie advocates American democratic socialism. He doesn’t want any of that.

Estrogen Democracy

Steps taken by a woman to resolve First World Problems, often related to personal appearance. A private decision, it must be made public and taken to a majority vote by her friends, via social media.

Example: Mary wants to change her hair from blonde to brunette. She posts her intentions via Facebook status and anxiously awaits the results of estrogen democracy.

Her friend Nancy and Aunt Flo quickly vote YES... but only for the 'Chestnut-Auburn-Cape Cod-Brown' seen in seasons 18-27 of Sex and The City as Carrie goes through her "independently sexual" phase.

But an overnight vote of Jill, Jane, and Mary's gay friend Chad from Bally's are an emphatic 'NO'. They all cite Mary's skin tone and eyebrow shade in the northern hemisphere between the hours of 1 to 3 pm.

Two for 'YES. Three for 'NO'. Mary buys ice cream and a pulsating shower head.
