Pomosexual

A portmanteau of pomo, short for postmodernism, and sexual, used as a noun—a person who rejects/avoids or does not identify as categorizations of sexual orientations (e.g., heterosexual and homosexual, which define people by relative conceptualizations of their sexual preferences and their direction of attraction) as a form of identity—and as an adjective, referring to such a person or to the philosophy of pomosexuality .

Elisa: What's your sexual orientation, john?

John: I do not identify as any sexual orientations labels.

Elisa: But, everyone is either pan/omni , bi, straight, gay, or an asexual.

John: None of them works for me and I refuse to use a label to define my sexual preference. I am a pomosexual.

Potsexual

Someone who doesn’t necessarily feel attraction to a gender(s) but could see themselves having a relationship with a person of that gender or doesn’t care about what gender that person is.

Different from Pansexual and Omnisexual, as pansexual is attraction to all genders but is “genderblind” or doesn’t have a preference, and omnisexual is attraction to all genders and notices those genders or has a preference.

Potsexual, is however, a person that is not necessarily attracted to a gender(s) but they can imagine themselves being in a relationship with a person of that gender(s) or they don’t care about their gender; Gender doesn’t play a role in attraction; They can be attracted to a person of any gender but that is not the determining factor of their attraction to them. They are attracted to a person’s personality traits or their physical appearance, but not necessarily their gender.

Can be a more specific pansexual label or slightly different version of pansexual.

Can use pansexual as an umbrella term and can also fall under the ace-spec umbrella.

Name inspired by similarity to pansexual.
“Pots and pans.”

Can be used as potromantic for romantic attraction.

No, she isn’t pansexual, she’s potsexual.

pomosexual

Pomosexual is a term popularized by sex-positive activists and writers Carol Queen and Lawrence Shimel in their 1997 Anthology "Pomosexuals: Challenging Assumptions about Gender and Sexuality". People who identify as Pomosexual are attempting to redefine, reassess and protest current essentialist-bound labels surrounding sexual orientation.
