cruel irony

The act of using somebody's words against them, usually when something to their great detriment is about to be inflicted upon them. Usually in the form of a gloating statement.
Kuzko: "Okay, I admit it. Maybe I wasn't as nice as I should have been. But, Yzma, do you really want to kill me?"

Yzma: "Just think of it as you're being let go...that your life's going in a different direction...that your body's part of
a permanent outplacement."

Kronk: "Hey, that's kind of like what he said to you when you got fired."

Yzma: "I know. It's called a cruel irony...like my dependence on you."

conscious irony

Irony's tendency to reference itself in skeumorphic form from one culturally-manifestive medium to the next. Irony as a self-referencing (meta-meta - - > self-actualized) entity. Culturally-manifestive mediums include literary--> cinematic - - > existential - - > aesthetic - - > conscious.
Conscious irony or irony's ability to self - reference from one medium to the next implies that it is self-sentient; that consciousness is an attribute of irony rather than irony being an attribute of consciousness

Irony

Buring down your house with a cigarette while you attend a "Stop Smoking" meeting.
True Story of Irony (January 31, 2009)

A lit cigarette burned a home to the ground while its occupants were attending a meeting to help them quit smoking.

Officials determined the fire was started by a cigarette that had been left burning by the 80-year-old mother of the man who owns the mobile home in San Luis Obispo, California.

The butt was left on a porch table while the two left for a health department meeting to help the woman quit smoking.

The fire caused $200,000 worth of damage.

Layers of Irony

Unironic: I am not gay

Ironic: I aM gAy *while clearly not gay*

Post ironic: man bro, you’re looking hot *taken sarcastically or said sarcastically, but is actually gay*

Meta ironic: *kisses homie and insists it isn’t gay. No one knows if he’s gay or not*

Hyper ironic: *becomes gay, but does so ironically*
Person 1: “bro that’s poggers”
Person 2: “did you just seriously say that?”
Person 1: “nah dude I’m just using layers of irony. I used it so ironically that I use it seriously, but it’s still ironic”

grammatic irony

When a person correcting someone else's grammar, spelling, or general intelligence makes a grammar or spelling mistake themselves. This does not count if the person has intentionally made the mistake. The phrase comes from "dramatic irony", but is not actually a form of irony.
On an Internet forum:
> > These stupid people are just crybabies who complain when they don't get they're way!

> Your an idiot because you can't spell!

Oh, the grammatic irony....
