The feeling you get from the RPG Skyrim. A lot like when you first start dating someone. You think about it all the time, wanna be with it non-stop, wanna play it, wanna accomplish things in it, tell it how beautiful it is.

Skyrim Effect

When a sequel gets so much hype and publicity the majority of newcomers to the series are casual fans who know nothing of the past games/movies in the series.

So when is Skyrim 2 coming out?

Skyrim is actually part five in the series excluding the additional games. Take it you never heard of Oblivion either. Classic example of the Skyrim Effect.

Playing Skyrim

When you say you're going to play skyrim, but in truth, you're actually just downloading more mods and modding the hell out of it. You then proceed to enter the game, see a bug, proceed to try and fix the files, enter the game, see another different bug and then proceed to this again and again for a few hours until you're happy with your set up.

"Oh, I was playing skyrim the whole day yesterday."

Skyrim Envy

Akin to "Penis envy" in Freudian psychoanalysis, Skyrim Envy refers to the theorized reaction of a girl, during her relationship development, to the realization that she cannot compete for her boyfriend's attention when it comes to Skyrim. This realization is considered a defining moment in the development of relationship preferences for women.

In contemporary culture, the term sometimes refers inexactly or metaphorically to women who are presumed to wish they were Skyrim.

Girl 1: "My boyfriend just got Skyrim... I haven't seen him in almost 6 days... I still love him, I just don't know what to do..."
Girl 2: "Leave him, I left my boyfriend when he got Skyrim and spared myself the trouble of competing with it. You just can't win."
Girl 1: "I just wish he would love me almost as much as he loves Skyrim..."

Girl 1 is suffering from a sub-stage of Skyrim Envy called Skyrim Denial (the stage in which the girl still thinks she can actually compete with Skyrim before she comes to the realization that she cannot).

Girl 2 realized that she could not compete with Skyrim.
