baysplaining

A Baysplainer can be characterized as someone who didn’t grow up in the Bay Area (probably not even California), most likely works in tech, eats at “hole in the wall” restaurants (I.e. restaurants that used to actually be a hole in the wall, but was taken over by a new Asian/fusion spot), considers themselves a “foodie”, most likely lives in the City or Oakland, goes to Outside Lands, wears their work badge to the bars, and so on.

A Baysplainer tends try to explain to a local “the best parts of the Bay”, the local community, etc., and doesn’t realize the impact they may have had on the local community by moving here and thus, affecting the job market, housing market, influencing the quick rise of gentrification, etc.

I was talking to someone who works in tech and they started Baysplaining about what the Bay Area is like.

bragplaing

often unitentional; when you complain about something and someone else tries to top that, you get into a shouting contest of telling the other person about how much your life sucks

example of a "bragplaing" conversation:

bob: the boss told me to do fileing
joe: well i have to go pick up my kids from soccer practice
bob: oh yah well my mom set me up on a blind date
joe: oh yah well my wife just filed for divorce
bob: i know i had to file it!!!

Bossplaining

When your boss is telling you what to do, after you complete these tasks you will be rewarded with an income. It’s called employment, do it well and you will remain employed and possibly get somewhere in life.

You: I’m sick of you constantly bossplaining to me at work.
Boss: I’m sick of paying you to whinge constantly and not generate profit.
You: I really wish you wouldn’t bossplain things to me anymore.
