A person who is a bonafide risk taker, who, in contrast to stuntmen and daredevils ends up taking risks that more often than not result in disasterous consequences. Despite these consequences, like a true test dummy, this person heals up from their wounds, that otherwise would have killed another person, and gets right back to taking risks that will lead to further injury or death.

test-dummy: "Hey dummies, I smashed my head car surfing the other day, once that's healed up, anyone want to play chicken on the train tracks with me?"

UK railway slang for either a shunting signal or a subsidary signal.

Term is frowned upon within modern safety critical communications. Example being - shunter to driver "the signalman will give you the dummy in a minute" meaning the signal man will clear signal no. (XYZ) in a minute thus allowing the train to proceed.
