Coined by Earl Patterson in the 70s when he named an amusement park, "Carowinds", combining Carolina and Winds. Essentially, the singular form of "Carowinds" is a "Carowind".
This could also be used to describe a person who travels from North to South Carolina, or vice-versa, very frequently, almost like a wind is pushing them along.
