hackfest

Any event centered around programming and the rapid development of code over many consecutive hours, sometimes days. Hackfests are akin to LAN parties, all-nighters, weekend benders, etc, but deal specifically with programming. Some hackfests have themes involving specific programming languages, projects, or locations.

Agbar won't be able to make it to your birthday party, he's at a hackfest and they're not leaving until they develop a program to measure the number of bleeps in an episode of South Park.

hack status

(n.) a facebook status posted by an individual other than the profile-owner that usually ridicules the owner and was posted without the owner's consent.

They are usually vulgar.

The profile-owner, upon realizing someone has hacked his profile and posted an embarassing status, can opt to delete the hack status but generally does not at the risk of giving the impression that whatever the status said is true. Traditionally, the profile-owner simply states he was hacked and identifies a friend whom he believes to have committed the hacking.

hacker

Back in the 70's, hacker was a term given to those fortunate enough to know how to code. During the 80's and 90's it was a term meant for those who worked their way through systems, without approval. Now, its meaning has been completely replaced by cracker, and hacker means nothing more than any idiot that can decipher a small page of HTML. Those who are computer illiterate still widely use the word in its 80s/90s sense. Not to be confused with hax0r, meaning a person who dreams to one day know how to hack, or another name for l337sp33k.
Of the 80s/90s version, there were three primary denominations:
The casual Hacker-hacks to learn information for his own curiosity.
The White Hat Hacker-hunts down and destroys malicious code.
The Black Hat Hacker-designs and releases malicious code;gathers dangerous information;brings down sensative systems.

1.)player characters can be seen through the wall
2.)player characters can walk up/through walls

etc.
