Their heavy use of AI also leads to a Dunning-Kruger effect because they confuse the palatable, easy-to-understand output produced by models like Chat-GPT with their own understanding of the topic. A mix of Chat(-GPT) and (char)latan. Derogatory.

ChatGPT is a generative AI chatbot, developed by OpenAI, that was released in late 2022. It uses language learning models to detect patterns in human writing, across millions, if not billions, of human-created texts, in order to predict what is the appropriate order of words for a given prompt in order to generate a response. Although ChatGPT, and really any language learning model, has the potential to be used to improve one's writing by running original content through it in order to get ideas for improvements, it is sadly primarily used by students in order to just create a response to assignments in school that they don't feel like doing. Similar practices are commonplace in a lot of workplaces and research institutions now, and this has lead to a phenomeon known as "AI brainrot."
