An old expression dating back at least to British National Service (1950's) and probably a lot earlier. Possibly for as long as there have been British Armies that supplied blankets.

Was also commonly used in former British Territories and Dominions (Australia etc.) which now form the Commonwealth.

To attach to something very securely.

Also to hang around something or someone very persistently.

"This glue will stick that on the wall like shit to an Army blanket."

"He's stuck to his boss like shit to an Army blanket."

Snake in the blanket 

The snake in the blanket is more or less the male version of camel toe. It is when a man's pants are so tight you can clearly make out the outline of his penis and nutsack combo.

A snake in the blanket is very sketchy and can create many awkward situations. Use extreme caution when in the presence of a snake in the blanket, or you may die.

Descriptive term, referring to laying a piece of toilet tissue on the water thus preventing splash back once a turd has been pinched out.

He layed the fireman's blanket, protecting himself from the inevitable soaking in the wake of his crap.

Wet Blanket 

descriptive noun

Describes a person who essentially ruins other people's fun, either because they openly disapprove of what other people are doing, or because their unpleasant attitude annoys or depresses everyone who would otherwise be enjoying themselves, if it weren't for that person acting like a 'wet blanket'.

The term is probably American in origin, first being used as slang in the mid 1800's. It was meant to compare a person to a wet blanket used to extinguish fires by smothering them, similar to how such a person would "extinguish" fun and excitement in social situations. Another, more modern interpretation of the term likens a dislikable or overbearing person to the aggravating, uncomfortable feeling of being covered by a blanket when it's wet.

"William was at the party last night and kept bumming everyone out by lecturing them about the 'dangers of alcohol and drugs'. Ha!"
"Yeah, that guy is such a wet blanket."
