Verbally expressing sympathy in an exaggerated way in order to make the sufferer laugh but also realize that whining doesn’t help.

I’m SO sorry you’re going through this! NO one understands the pain you’re in and the obstacles you face! You seriously have it worse right now than anyone else in the world! Is this sympathy therapy working yet?
