antifact

A thing which is the opposite of what it is presumed to be. An action which is intended to achieve one result and yet achieves its opposite.
Jack and Babs were puzzled that their daughter, already well past forty, seemed to lack any motivation, ambition or interest. They had always done everything for her, 'helped' her with her homework, pulled strings to get her into school, given her a car for graduation. They'd even bought her a nice apartment and set up an annuity so she wouldn't have to worry, never understanding that their 'caring' was an antifact, which, instead of enabling her, was crippling her.

Antifragile Theory

The theory, from Taleb's book "Antifragile," that some systems gain from volatility, randomness, and disorder—they are not just robust (resisting shock) but antifragile (improving from shock). Antifragile Theory argues that we have focused too much on protecting systems from stress, when stress is actually what makes them stronger. Muscles are antifragile: they grow from exercise. Evolution is antifragile: it improves from mutations. Some political systems are antifragile: they strengthen from challenges. The theory explains why overprotection creates fragility, why small failures prevent big ones, why we need stressors to grow. It's the foundation of a worldview that welcomes disorder, that builds systems that learn from mistakes, that sees volatility not as threat but as opportunity.
Example: "He'd protected his child from every failure, every disappointment, every stress. Antifragile Theory explained why this was destroying the child: without stressors, she wasn't growing stronger. She was becoming fragile, unable to handle life. He started letting her fail, letting her struggle, letting her learn. She grew stronger—antifragile."

AntiFreeze

AntiFreeze|AntiBoil:
A concentrated or pre-diluted solution containing substances/chemicals generally used in car radiators as a heat transfer fluid to prevent freezing in cold conditions and to prevent boiling over as the engine heats up after it's started.

Antifreeze generally contains a substance called "Ethylene Glycol" (also known as Ethane-1,2-Diol), which is a superior antifreeze when mixed with water compared to Glycerine/Glycerol or Methanol.

Ethylene Glycol has a sweet taste, making it attractive to animals; young children; or uneducated people.. but it is toxic if ingested (swallowed) due to the way it's metabolised:

Ethylene Glycol itself is more or less non-toxic, but when ingested it slowly but steadily gets metabolised to toxic organic acids that can cause illness, damage the kidneys leading to renal failure and can be fatal.

Bittering agents are added to antifreeze nowadays, so it no longer tastes sweet, but it tastes bitter instead.. however it is still poisonous if swallowed, so always keep antifreeze out of reach of children and away from pets.

If someone has ingested Antifreeze, take them to the hospital BEFORE symptoms occur as the Glycol itself may cause drunkenness but isn't really toxic at all until it gets metabolised; meaning that if the victim gets immediate treatment, the medications used in the hospital will stop the body from processing the antifreeze to its toxic metabolites, and it will eventually be harmlessly urinated out.
My car might be low on AntiFreeze/AntiBoil as it is overheating, could I possibly have a leak.
