one day stand

A term used by transients and travelers to describe a friendly relationship between two, previously unacquainted parties. The relationship develops quickly and ends abruptly as one or both parties is just passing through or soon to leave town.

Man: What'd you do yesterday?

Woman: I met this incredible couple from up north at the cafe. They're on a train trip around the country. We laughed and shared stories for hours until they had to head back to the station for their departure.

Man: Classic one day stand. It's too bad they couldn't stay longer; sounds like you really hit it off.

The sight reinvigorates that sense of loneliness that they had briefly forgotten about. While this produces a sad mood in most, it can motivate other men to strive for greater achievements through their own self-improvement.

Macy's One Day Sale.

Definition 1: An above average looking male/female percieved as a 9 or 10, who couples up with a below average looking male/female, percieved as a 4 or a 5.

Definition 2: An analogy to explain how an unattractive person couples up with an attractive person. The unattractive person usually "shops" and "buys" his/her boyfriend/girlfriend at Walmart, but happens to get lucky and hit the Macy's one day sale.

Mark: Wow,,,,how did Fat Amy hook up with Johnny Football?
Kim: I have no idea.
Mark and Kim (in unison): "Macy's One Day Sale."
